Professional Women in Construction (PWC)

PWC-CT Mentoring

PWC-CT is excited to be halfway through another successful mentoring year! Working with four local Connecticut colleges, the mentoring program was offered to students enrolled in architecture, engineering and/or construction related programs. The student-mentees have been invited to attend four PWC-CT dinner meetings free of charge and shadow for the evening, their PWC-CT mentors who are employed in the professional field of the student's interest.

About the PWC-CT Mentoring Program:

This program has been successful because PWC-CT members in the fields of architecture, engineering and construction have volunteered to be mentors for these students. The mentors are assigned one student to mentor during the four most popular PWC-CT meetings (September, December, February and April) and are encouraged to provide the student with an opportunity to visit a site under construction and/or visit the mentor's office, if appropriate.

The goal is of the PWC-CT mentoring program is to (1) expose the students to their fields of interest, beyond what they are learning in the classroom and from text books; (2) provide the students an opportunity to interact with a professional in the field of the student's interest; (3) provide potential employment contacts for both the student and PWC-CT members; and (4) expose the students to the valuable programs offered by PWC-CT.
