June 1, 2010 The 179D deduction can put money back in the hands of opportunistic architects, engineers, and
developers who improve energy efficiency, Reznick Group Principal Lorraine Reale tells us. Enacted in
the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the deduction follows similar guidelines to LEED, eg, there are levels of
compliance: reduce your costs by 25% and get 30 cents on the dollar, a 40% reduction gets you 60
cents and a 50% reduction $1.80. There is a caveat, however...
