Maria is on PWC-NY Membership Committee
Maria Salazar discovered her aptitude for mathematics, physics and technical drawing as a high school student in Quito, Ecuador; this led her to New York to pursue a career in architecture. In her position as Project Manager and Senior Associate at HOK New York, her talent for design is complemented by a passion for improving every end-user experience, regardless of the building type or project sector. Maria sees the spaces she helps create as being brought to life by their inhabitants, when the rich variety of human experience is finally allowed to play out upon their completion.
Having lived and practiced in Ecuador, Mexico, and now New York City, Maria brings unique experience and a talent to working with diverse teams. As Project Manager for HOK, she prides herself on inspiring collaboration and cooperation among the various members of the design, management, and construction teams.
Maria supports PWC because she believes in the importance of providing role models for young women considering a career in the AEC industry. She is grateful for the support she has been given over the years by mentors and is excited to be part of the PWC community where contributions by women to the AEC industry are given their well deserved recognition and promotion.
